An Object-oriented Approach to High Order Finite Element Analysis of Three-dimensional Continua

چکیده
This paper presents an object-oriented program system for finite element analysis implemented in Java. The main part is about concepts for the analysis of three-dimensional continua using the p-version of FEM. An object-oriented model for the related concepts of hierarchic basis functions and the blending function method is introduced. In order to improve the performance of the application, a hybrid software architecture is used. Here, computationally intense tasks are delegated to numerical libraries implemented mostly in Fortran. Two application examples show that the p-version of FEM is well suited for the analysis of thin walled structures. The examples also illustrate that the software can be used for problems involving more than 50,000 degrees of freedom for the p-version and more than 100,000 degrees of freedom for the h-version.

Analysis of High-order Approximations by Spectral Interpolation Applied to One- and Two-dimensional Finite Element Method
The implementation of high-order (spectral) approximations associated with FEM is an approach to overcome the difficulties encountered in the numerical analysis of complex problems. This paper proposes the use of the spectral finite element method, originally developed for computational fluid dynamics problems, to achieve improved solutions for these types of problems. Here, the interpolation n...
متن کاملA New Eight Nodes Brick Finite Element Based on the Strain Approach
In this paper, a new three dimensional brick finite element based on the strain approach is presented with the purpose of identifying the most effective to analyze linear thick and thin plate bending problems. The developed element which has the three essential external degrees of freedom (U, V and W) at each of the eight corner nodes, is used with a modified elasticity matrix in order to satis...
متن کاملModeling Static Bruising in Apple Fruits: A Comparative Study, Part II: Finite Element Approach
ABSTRACT- Mechanical damage degrades fruit quality in the chain from production to the consumption. Damage is due to static, impact and vibration loads during processes such as harvesting, transportation, sorting and bulk storage. In the present study finite element (FE) models were used to simulate the process of static bruising for apple fruits by contact of the fruit with a hard surface. Thr...

This paper deals with the implementation of an efficient Arbitrary Lagrangian Eulerian (ALE) formulation for the three dimensional finite element modeling of mode I self-similar dynamic fracture process. Contrary to the remeshing technique, the presented algorithm can continuously advance the crack with the one mesh topology. The uncoupled approach is employed to treat the equations. So, each t...
